Just got back from Orchard. I realised that my "broke" is diff from lizard's "broke". Her "broke"= spending $50 while my "broke"= spending $10. So I'm like always broke because I always spend my $10s away. LOL.
Anyway, I'm NOT "broke" today! At least I still have the $10 which I'm really supposed to use for sj. :D
Lizard almost spent $30 on a NOTEBOOK. Because she heard "$30" as "$13". She wanted to borrow money for me, and I was more than willing to lend her my pathetic last piece of note in my wallet (so that there was no way I can spend anymore), but she was still short of money so we had to leave the shop, super embarrassed. The shopowner already wrapped the notebook! >.<
Lizard and me at the counter.
Shopowner: "$30 please"
Lizard: "$30? As in 3-0?"
Shopowner: Yes.
Lizard: (checks her wallet) Elaine, do you have money to lend me?
Me: Yup, I can lend you $10.
Lizard: (looks distressed and checks her wallet) I'm still short of $4.
(Lizard and me stare at one another, then at the shopowner. Awkward situation.)
Lizard: Err. Sorry, but I didn't bring enough money.
Shopowner: (smiles) Oh, it's okay.
(Lizard and me leaves shop immediately.)
The shopowner was really nice! I mean, she wasn't in the least annoyed or anything.
Haha. Spent quite a nice time in Orchard with lizard. It feels good not to feel guilty abt being "broke"! LOL.
Jane Goodall's talk is really nice! :D I shall not call her the "monkey woman" anymore. I kind of respect her now leh! :D I shall support Roots and Shoots. ZK says we should start a Roots and Shoots CCA in our school too! But, haha her talk was long, and her voice was gentle and peaceful, I really couldn't help feeling sleepy during the middle of her speech. I forced myself awake though! It was quite embarrassing to sleep in such a famous person's speech! >.< I later confessed to lizard and ZK that I almost fell asleep halfway through, and haha, they felt the same way too! Maybe not ZK, he thought it was quite interesting. Gee, they looked really attentive then! But her voice, it was like listening to a bedtime story. I mean, no offence la! But I was really really touched with the last part of her speech, when she told us the story of Jojo. Chimpanzees are like really very similiar to humans la. I can just imagine Jojo's eyes saying "Won't anyone help me?".
Anyway, I'm just really glad we went for the talk la.
I'm going backwards! Lol, I'm going to talk about Dragon Kiln now! Oh haha. The pottery-wheel tryout was pretty fun! :D But after the man praised me that I was quite gentle and doing a good job, I messed up and tried to keep the big piece of clay from flying out by pressing really hard on the clay, and having lots of clay stuck on me afterwards. Oh yes, we also moulded a piece ourselves too! We got abit of clay, and everyone started moulding them into many interesting stuff. Lizard got a lightning-bowl sort of thing. I made a little pot with a mouse (supposedly) on it, and with a "E" on the side of my pot. Ms Chua's piece was just pro la! She made a moneybag, complete with a nice rope ribbon which even had the fine lines on the ribbon, like a real rope!
Haha, yup yup. Should be done for now. Byebye! :D
